The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is a solemn observance of a person receiving the Eucharist for the first time. Holy Communion is the reception of the Eucharist, that is, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ found under the auspices of bread and wine. It is the third of the three sacraments of initiation. A baptized child’s First Communion is usually celebrated around age seven or eight and is preceded by their first confession (the Sacrament of Reconciliation).Â
