Our lovely church was filled with wonderful Christmas music during our Carol Concert on Sunday 17 December. An enthusiastic audience of parishioners and friends enjoyed performances of carols and festive songs by local 16-voice choir, Vocal Point, and joined in with some favourite carols too. Our church choir was in fine voice leading the audience carols with Johann on the organ.
One of the highpoints was the opening congregational carol, ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ with first verse sung beautifully by our very own young soloist, Simona. This set the tone for a concert of carols old and new, from across the world and in a variety of styles from serious to light-hearted.
There was a great atmosphere both in the church for the concert and afterwards in the church hall when everyone had a chance to chat over a glass or mulled wine or cup of tea. Thank you so much to Sharon and Angela and their band of helpers for all the refreshments – a huge achievement as this was their second parish social event of the day.
