On Saturday 15 March, the OLSD Youth Ministry organised for 26 individuals of all ages, to attend OVO Arena Wembley, to take part in the Catholic Youth Ministry Federation’s ‘Flame’. Attended by 10,800 people from all over the country, as well as individuals from Austria and Ukraine, a wonderful day was had by all.
Bear Grylls was the celebrity speaker and talked about his faith and journey through life. He also talked about his new book, The Greatest Story Ever Told, out in June 2025, which tells the story of the Gospel like a novel thriller but contains all the direct language of Jesus lifted from the Bible.
Every participant was given a free copy of this book to take away with them. We had talks from other individuals and societies like St Vincent de Paul and Bryan from Kenya, who talked about his work and CAFOD’s campaign to Cancel Debt.
World Youth Dance Crew had us up dancing in our seats, along with amazing music from Guvna B, One Hope Project and Adenike amongst others.
One of the Co-founders of Hallow, an app made to help us all pray more, gave a talk on how the app came to be, and gave everyone in the arena a QR code to get three months of the app for free.
To end the day, Cardinal Vincent Nichols led us in Adoration followed by the final celebration. The final liturgy was also attended by numerous Bishops from across the country, including our very own Bishop Philip.Â
Everyone who went said they would go again and a Big Thank You to everyone who came with us. It was an absolute pleasure to spend such an amazing day with you all in such an electric atmosphere.
