A Busy Start to the Year!

The children have now begun the First Holy Communion sessions from the Heart Speaks to Heart Programme.  The first session on Wednesday 22nd January 2025  was based around the theme of Faith: My Life’s Journey.  As a group we talked about where we were on our faith journey, and I asked the children to bring to the next session items that reminded them of their faith journey.  We watched a video about the faith of the Centurion from the Gospel of St Matthew and the children annotated the story in their books.  In small groups we also took part in a “Treasure Hunt”.  We went into the Church and the children hunted for the Paschal Candle, the Font and the Holy Oils.

 

The second session was on Wednesday 12^th February 2025 and the theme of this session was Hope: Entering God’s House.  During this session the children shared their thoughts about why they thought that people went to church.  The answers they give were incredibly insightful and demonstrated the children’s growing faith and understanding.  Some of the children also stood up and shared the items they had brought to the session which reminded them of their faith journey.  

 

Last Wednesday, 26th February 2025, we had our third session with the theme Love: Holy Mass begins.  In this session we talked together about how we feel when we go to Mass.  All of the children contributed by giving one word as to how it made them feel:  “happy”, “joyful” and “loved”, were some of the popular contributions.
