On Wednesday we had a second session of the Heart Speaks to Heart programme preparing the children for their first Reconciliation. The theme of the session was “honesty and bravery.”
We began the session in a group all together around images of the bible story of Adam and Eve and we started the session with a prayer. The children then shared some of things they had written in their reflection books from the last session and joined in on the discussion of our individual gifts. As the children grow in confidence with one another it is fantastic to hear them sharing all of their amazing gifts and we have some very talented children! We talked together about what the virtues of honesty and bravery mean and then we watched a video about the story of Adam and Eve from the bible.
In our separate groups we discussed the bible story and how Jesus heals our friendship with God. In our smaller groups we also looked at the difference between a “sin” and a “mistake.”
After a short break for a snack and a drink we continued in our small groups to discuss how we can make good choices. For the last part of the session, we moved back altogether around our focal point, where we discussed some of the things the children will need to do at home before the next session. The session finished with a quiet meditative prayer.
