Friendship, Fellowship and Fun with a Christmas theme was the order of the day when the Mama Margherita club for retired people held its second meeting on Thursday 14th December.
If you are retired, or semi-retired and would like to come along, don’t hesitate! You will be more than welcome. We are an active group (even if some of us are no longer as mobile as we once were) ranging in age from between our mid-60s to almost 90 and meet on the second Thursday of each month.
Friendship, Fellowship and Fun with a Christmas theme was the order of the day when the Mamma Margherita club for retired people held its second meeting on Thursday 14th December.
We were delighted to welcome 36 members of our Parish Family to share Mass, a beautiful tea and an afternoon of chat, laughter and a Christmas Quiz. There were many happy faces all round and these weren’t only on the faces of the raffle prize winners! It was a delight that parishioners from different masses who might not otherwise meet, were able to begin to build new friendships.
Even those who were not raffle prize winners came away with a small gift: a booklet giving an account of Margaret Occhiena Bosco (Mamma Margherita).

We have a varied programme planned for the coming months:
In January we will welcome a speaker from Citizens Advice who will talk about scams of all kinds and how we might not fall prey.
In February we have a real treat in store: a musical afternoon led by Dukes Ukes who will entertain us with a ukulele concert.
March sees Graham leading a game of Countdown, which is a huge personal favourite of mine.
In April Martin Wood will share his memories and tales of his and Jo’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
The Blue Lamp Trust will be coming to speak to us in May. The Blue Lamp Trust is a charity dedicated to promoting and enhancing community safety. It will be interesting.
A complete programme of activities will be printed very soon and will be displayed in Foley Hall.
